In conjunction with Rotary International, East Cape Health Center has an ongoing Diabetes program.

East Cape Health Center provides screening, detection, prevention, and treatment of Diabetes free of cost to the community.

50% of the Mexican population has Diabetes. We hope with our Community Outreach Program we can assist our neighbors with this disease.

We hold educational seminars on nutrition, the benefits of exercising and healthy life style changes to control the progression of Diabetes.

With the Diabetic Program we are able to give the patient a Glucometer and a month's supply of testing strips. The East Cape Health Center also supplies oral medication, insulin, syringes and laboratory tests to monitor their medication doses.

In 2010, our non-profit was able to assist over 100 patients with their diabetic needs. In 2011 we hope to be able to enroll more Diabetics into our program.

Our goal is to provide treatment to every East Cape community member who has Diabetes.

Diabetic Screening

During the November 20, 2010 Diabetic Screening, the East Cape Health Center in conjunction with Rotary International tested seventy-one people for Diabetes and Hypertension.

Of those tested, twenty-one were found to have a glucose reading of over 120 and/or blood pressure reading over 130/90. That is an approximate 30% of the population tested having a high reading.

Even with the Rotary's help we fall short of our goal.

Donations of Diabetic supplies and monies are  needed.
